Over the span of 25+ years, Jason Colby’s professional trumpet career has taken him everywhere - From European concert halls to legendary New York City clubs, Las Vegas showrooms to stadium festivals in the Caribbean. Along the way, Jason has not only amassed a diverse performance resume but also has extensive recordings credits; most notably in the Haitian and Caribbean music scenes with over 100 sideman credits. He has performed and/or recorded with musical legends Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Paul Anka, The Four Tops, the Temptations, Tabou Combo, Peabo Bryson, Wayne Newton, Marlena Shaw, Joe Williams, Bobby Caldwell, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Dee Snider, Deborah Gibson, Gary Puckett, Barbara Lynn, Reynaldo Domino, Jimmy "Preacher" Ellis, Darrow Fletcher, Lonnie Lester, David Cassidy, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Jack Jones, Orchestra Tropicana, and Joe Piscopo. Jason has also worked with Aloe Blacc, Lukas Graham, The Heavy, Wyclef Jean, Spoon, Charles Bradley and his Extraodinaires, Sean and Starr featuring the Dap Kings, Lady, Orgone, DaKah Hip Hop Orchestra, Djakout #1, and Toubab Krewe. Jason is equally at home playing jazz as a long time member of the Artie Shaw Orchestra. He has also performed with such distinguished jazz artists as Darcy James Argue's Secret Society, The Don Menza Jazz Orchestra and The Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra. He also spent several seasons as a member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic. Currently, Jason can be seen touring all over the world with soul legend, Lee Fields and the Expressions. He is also co-leader of the Brooklyn-based afro funk powerhouse, Ikebe Shakedown. Other projects he is proud to be a part of include Brooklyn's Breakdown Brass, The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra and Peliroja. Jason also leads several of his own projects when he can find the time. Jason’s music has been featured on HBO’s “East Bound and Down” and NBC’s “The New Normal” as well as advertising campaigns for Mini Cooper, Vans shoes, Oscar Meyer, and Hex Bags. Jason has appeared on National TV on Conan, The Daily Show, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Michael, and The Chris Gethard Show. Jason holds a Bachelor of Music from The University of Nevada Las Vegas and a Master of Music from The Conservatory of Music, SUNY Purchase.
